About Us
Started by John Forsberg and his wife, Morgan, the OutdoorCanopyBed.com company was formed after visiting a resort in the Caribbean in 2007. Along its pristine beaches were a line of outdoor canopied beds that proved to be the most sought-after real estate in the entire resort. Morgan would rise at 6 a.m. each morning just to claim one for the day. It was the perfect spot for reading and napping.
Living along the quiet, wooded banks of the Flat River in Lowell, Michigan, we decided we wanted the exact same luxury. After much research and development, the first bed was built.
We quickly learned that, like the resort, our bed was a sought-after location during gatherings. Friends and family wanted one… kayakers along the river paddled up to inquire. Our bed was even featured in The Grand Rapids Press!
After many months of further design, manufacturing jigs to ensure that each bed is exactly the same, plus creating a detailed instruction booklet (for those who wish to build their own bed), the OutdoorCanopyBed.com company was formed.
Our goal: to give our customers the same experience we have so enjoyed. It truly is the focal point of our yard, and we hope it will be for yours as well.
